One of the most common questions that new sex doll users ask is how they can clean the doll. It makes sense – after all, these are not cheap, and you want to take the best care of your investment.
In this post, we’ll go through how to clean and disinfect the doll of all bacteria. This will help it last longer and ensure that you have a safe experience every time.
When Should I Clean It?
There are two things to consider here:
- Hygiene
- Longevity
You can rinse the orifices after every use and then do a thorough cleaning once or twice a month. We don’t recommend thoroughly cleaning the doll more often than that. The more the skin is washed, the faster it will degrade.
How to Clean Your Doll
First things first—we recommend that you check what the manufacturer’s instructions are. Some will even provide a cleaning kit and full care instructions. If they don’t provide a kit, it’s simple enough to create your own.
The main thing to remember with your kit is that you must not use any abrasive cleaners, sponges, or towels.
What you’ll need is:
- Warm water
- Antibacterial soap that is recommended by the manufacturer
- Talcum powder
- A soft sponge
- Another soft sponge that you’ll cut up into smaller bits
- A soft cloth for drying
- Pincers or tweezers
- A good quality brand of paper towel
Cleaning the Body
This step is pretty simple, really. If you’re using the doll regularly, you need to ensure that you clean it at least every two weeks to get rid of any bacteria. The talcum powder also helps to keep the skin in good condition.
It’s not that much different from how you wash yourself. The doll can be showered or placed in the tub. If you choose the shower, keep the head and neck out of the water. You can wash them briefly, but they shouldn’t be allowed to soak too much, or the inner screw could rust.
From there, use lukewarm, not hot, water. Lather up the soap and give the whole body a rubdown. Be sure to work your fingers into all orifices. Work gently so as not to tug on the skin too much. It’s never a good idea to scrub the skin as this could damage it.
Once that’s done, be sure to rinse it thoroughly.
Drying the Skin
Properly drying the skin is essential for two reasons. For starters, if the skin is left moist, there is more chance of friction building up, which can cause tearing. It’s also important for every area to be adequately dried or mildew can develop.
Start by holding the doll upright so that as much water as possible can drain off. Make sure that the orifices, in particular, are allowed to dry. To dry the doll, use a light, non-abrasive cloth to pat down the doll gently.
Once most of the water has been removed, set the doll aside. It should be left to dry naturally for at least an hour. Once that’s done, you can dust everything with talcum powder. This helps to scent the skin and also prevents it from becoming tacky later on.
Cleaning Just the Orifices
It’s easiest to do this in the shower, or if the doll is lying on the bed. It’s not necessary to soak the doll in water if this is an interim clean. If it’s time for her bath, then follow the steps we listed above. If not, here’s what you do:
- Start with one of the pieces of sponge that you cut up earlier. Soak it in lukewarm water and grasp it with the pincers/ tweezers.
- Next, move onto the mouth. Wipe it out and then rewet the sponge.
- This time, put a fair amount of the antibacterial soap onto the sponge.
- Wash out the mouth again, and also wash the lips and a little of the surrounding area. Make sure that every trace of dirt is removed.
- Then take the sponge out, rinse with clean, warm water, and repeat twice.
- Now you can move onto the vagina and anus. The steps will be the same as those described for the mouth.
- Once finished, take a clean, dry piece of sponge and place it in the mouth. It should soak up most of the moisture.
- Now, take the paper towel and wrap it around the end of the tweezers. Use this to soak up every last trace of moisture. Repeat.
- Do the same for the vagina and anus.
- Set the doll aside for an hour or so to make sure that everything is completely dry. Powder the outside of the mouth, vagina, and anus.
- Just be gentle and keep in mind that the mouth will be easier to clean.
If the Company Provides a Vaginal Irrigator
Here again, you’ll want to read the instructions carefully. The process is similar. Use the irrigator with tepid water to rinse out the vagina. Then repeat the process using a mix of water and antibacterial soap. Rinse again with clean, tepid water. Repeat. Dry as described above.
Washing Your Doll’s Face
The dolls head should never be soaked in water, so you’ll clean the face separately.
If the wig can come off, remove it, and set it aside; this will prevent the hair from getting wet unnecessarily. Now move on to washing the face. Take your soft sponge, and soak it in lukewarm, clean water. Dab the sponge over her whole face, avoiding the eyes and eyelashes.
Now you can add some antibacterial soap and dab that on as well. Again, don’t get the eyes or eyelashes wet. Pat the skin down with your soft cloth so that most of the moisture is picked up, then let it air dry for an hour or two.
Then pat on some talcum powder, and you’re done.
Cleaning the Hair
Your doll’s wig is simple enough to take care of:
- Use mild shampoo and conditioner that is recommended by the manufacturer.
- Use a wide-toothed comb – this will help to detangle the hair without causing too much damage to the strands.
It’s always better to take the wig off first and wash it separately. Just wet the hair using tepid water, then shampoo it. Rinse it again and then apply the conditioner. The conditioner needs to be left in for around two minutes or so. Rinse once again with lukewarm water and then leave to dry. We recommend getting a wig stand to help the wig hang properly while drying naturally.
You can reshape the hair slightly while it’s on the stand to dry; don’t tug at the hair, or try combing it at this stage. You should never use a hairdryer here.
When the hair has dried completely, you can comb it. Start at the ends of the hair, and comb through gently. You’ll have to work through any knots carefully so that you don’t pull strands out of the wig.
What About the Clothes?
When choosing the clothes, make sure that there are no dyes that might bleed out and transfer to the doll; the skin could be stained as a result. Before you dress your doll, wash the clothes two or three times to ensure that any excess dye is washed away.
Mistakes to Avoid While Cleaning
The following mistakes increase the risk of damaging the doll or making it wear out faster:
- Using harsh cleaning agents that might react with the skin of the doll. These might have a chemical reaction with the skin and cause it to wear faster or become blotchy.
- The use of sharp objects during the cleaning process. This could result in inadvertent punctures in the skin, which cannot be repaired easily.
- Submerging the neck or head for too long. The water could seep in through the scalp; the danger of this is that the neck joint might get wet, and this could lead to corrosion.
- Applying a lot of pressure when washing or drying can cause the skin to tear.
- Using dragging motions when drying the skin will also stretch it out and lead to tearing.
- Using a hairdryer on the skin. Even on low settings, the heat could warp the skin.
Storage Options
As long as you’ve cleaned and dried the doll properly, storage won’t be much of an issue. Here are your choices:
- A specially designed box
- Hanging in a closet
- The shipping box it came in
- A bag
Your main concern is to keep the doll out of direct sunlight and protected from dust. The doll should always be put away naked to prevent potential stains or marks from the clothes. It’s better stored upright or laying out flat—never fold it to store it.
Final Notes
Cleaning your doll is an essential part of maintenance. It won’t take long to get the hang of things, though. Always make sure that it’s dry when it’s packed away, and you’ll have an intimate companion for years to come.
